Afrihost Fiber Cancellation Fee

I had a 20mb fiber line with Afrihost. We have a newly built apartment (2019) with our fiber line already installed in the unit with the fiber box in the lounge wall that looks like a router. When I ordered the fiber I went to the client zone to fetch the configured router.

By this point, I got a call from Purple Forest saying they want to come out and install the fiber line. I mentioned that everything is already installed but they insisted. Nothing was done.

I plugged the router and everything worked. I now canceled the fiber line in March. I then extended to April 2020. In May I got an invoice for R999 for the fiber line activation fee. I emailed the Afrihost accounts team and asked if I can reinstate the fiber line a week later without paying this fee. They said I can but I still have to pay this fee.

The retentions department tried to give me 50% of the fiber line for 3 months but did not say I have to pay this fee when I told them the reason for the cancellation was affordability!

I can understand if an installation had to be done but everything was already done!

Also if everything was configured and I asked to reinstate the connection why do I still have to pay this fee?

We are going through a pandemic. Every cent counts! I am also going to complain to the broadcast commission on this because this is unfair.
