Afrihost does not care for their customers well-being
As a customer of Afrihost, I am little disappointed at the response I received from their accounts department. I submitted a request for assistance with the payment of my account. Currently, due to the lockdown, I am the only person working in my household. It's me, my wife, 2 kids (ages 9 and 1) and my brother-in-law living in the house. We went from 3 providers to only 1 at the start of the lockdown.
I requested assistance from Afrihost, to not suspend my services due to non-payment and offered to pay the arrears amount and the new invoiced amount on the 25th of the month. I need the internet in order to do my job, which I get paid for,. Without the internet, I cannot work. If do not work I cannot get paid. If my services gets suspended, that means I only get paid for half a month. If I get paid for only half a months work, I cannot afford to pay for the internet. This is not a service I use for entertainment, but need for work in order to feed my family.
This means, next month I will not have any internet, because feeding my family comes first. So if I don;t have internet next month, I cannot work which means I cannot get paid and my family suffers. The cost of living did not become cheaper since the lockdown. People are suffering and service providers, and other major companies, do not care. They want their money and if cannot pay them, they cut off services that you require in order to put food on the table or keep the lights on when Eskom decides you can.
Do not email me for a response, get my contact number from my account details. Because if my service gets suspended, I cannot receive emails. Here is the reference number I received when emailing the accounts department: #YJQ-***7
