Afrihost disappointment
I bought a house about 2 months after getting fibre internet at the place I was renting at. Afrihost said I could not migrate my Frogfoot fibre to my new property (about 1km away) so I was advised I had to cancel, pay a cancellation penalty, then apply for new fibre. I followed the instructions. The previous owner of my new property had Openserve fibre and he left everything intact and I expected all I would need was to ask Afrihost/Openserve to change the details of the account associated with the installation. Afrihost support explained it would take longer to do this compared to applying for a NEW installation from Octotel. This was strange because that would, in my mind, require a site visit and installation labour as compared to changing some numbers on a computer to switch subscribers associated with the exiting hardware. I was asked to send photos of serial numbers and existing hardware which I sent. Long story short, 2 weeks later we are still nowhere near getting fibre and while it is MY problem, buying Vodacom mobile data is expensive and impractical when it require I spend R115/day just to use the internet. I've been a loyal client for years and have gone out of my way to promote Afrihost but this slowness (20+ emails back and forth) is just not realistic. As I type this I am trying to find alternative providers because I have had enough. My ticket number is KTS-***2 and it has been open since December 2019.
