AFRIHOST client support

To whom it may concern

kindly be aware that I have upgraded my line to a 10 Mbps at the end of Feb changes were supposed to come into effect march however until now I constantly have to log requests for recreation of ports to get a working internet connection. originally when upgrading representative advised that exchange does support 40 Mbps and we should start with 10 Mbps. at best I am currently receiving 3 Mbps.2 faults were logged with Telkom regarding this and on both occasions they either did not re-sync the line or was completed / closed without any comments. Spoke to a representative yet again tonight and all we can do from afrihost side is log yet another fault. again I as client constantly need to ask for assistance as to what is going on. during this time I as client is being inconvenienced even though payment was done pro rata amount also payed and then to receive this a humble sorry we need to log it. I would like to know how and when will this be fixed as clients that are further away from exchange are receiving better link speeds. where as other providers are also moving to this area to even offer FTTH. if nothing is done all I can still do is cancel.

regards

Hello duplessisdeon,

We apologise for the delay in the upgrade of your line.

The DSL infrastructure is made of copper that run underground. The exchange in your area may support a higher speed but each home has their own copper line that can be affected by deterioration over time. This can affect the quality of the copper making it harder to reach a higher sync - despite your area being able to support a higher sync.

Your profile is back at 4mbps and our account team has corrected the billing. It looks as though 10mbps will not be feasible given the current state of your line.
We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused you.
