16 days of no Internet Service...and counting!

I have my ADSL line through Afrihost - I have to date been 16 days without Internet Service! And still counting....

The communications and overall service from Afrihost has been frustrating and disappointing.

On 16 Jan I noticed I had no Internet Access. I logged a ticket to Afrihost on 17 Jan. They informed me that it was part of a bigger Telkom outage.

On Jan 20 they informed me that the problem was resolved. But it wasnt...I still had no Internet, and l told them so. I also provided them with full screen grabs to illustrate my point.

From here a series of vague updates were provided to me over the next number of days, which was essentially just the vague Telkom status updates that didnt tell me much at all. Each time the Afrihost message was that Telkom will look at it, but they (Afrihost) have no clue when that might happen. I was starting to wonder what I pay Afrihost for anyway?!? All they do is forward on Telkom messages....where is the value?

Out of desperation I even copied in the supposed email address of the CEO (as he/Afrihost just loves sending me promotional emails from that address). But to date, not even a quick reply to let me know this is being taken seriously from Afrihost's side and that they will get me back online asap. So I am important enough for them to SPAM me...but when I have a problem there is nothing.

I asked why they cant do more to move the process along, and all they could come back with is that their hands are tied. They have supposedly escalated the fault with Telkom, but that is all they could do. Again I wondered why I am paying Afrihost...they dont really do anything?!?

After having been without ADSL internet for 16 days I asked them to at least give me mobile data so that I can at least have SOME internet connectivity until Telkom gets to finally investigating the fault. They simply refused. I feel that after 16 days of me being cut off, that asking for mobile data as a temporary solution was reasonable.

I have been a loyal customer for years...but when I actually needed them to earn their money and provide me with some value...they failed me.

I always had a positive view of Afrihost, but from now on I will warn everyone I know to stay away from Afrihost. Their services is disappointing and unsatisfactory.
