Zonefitness: Probably not the right fit
I had a contract with this gym until January of this year. When the contract neared it's end, I went in to double check what is required of me in order to either continue gyming (in which case you are to pay a small fee and have your contract upgraded to a two year contract) or discontinue the services of the company. I remember being told that cancelling the account was on the client towards the end of the contract otherwise an auto-renewal policy kicks in. However I was not 100% sure after a year had gone by since signing the contract and decided to double check at the gym itself. I was then told that when the contract comes to its end, the deductions will automatically be stopped seeing as the contractual timeline is over. Well, this was not the case and the gym went on to deduct money for both February and March and only stopped the deductions once a different contract was taken out in my brothers name with the assurance that I need not be hesitant about signing up again as the issue would be resolved and that if I could not get a full refund, I'd at least be refunded for the month of March. It is June now I have had no money returned and the courtesy of communication was not even extended to me. After waiting out the silence of April I marched over to Zonefitness in May to find out what was going on. Not only was I told that the woman who help me there was now working at another branch, but that the manager could only listen to my complaint and give me the details of who to contact that could help. So again I had to go through the motions of explaining the entire debacle and was subjected to a back and forth in emails that were boiling down to the company not being able to accommodate me. This morning, I sent one final email asking whether or not I'd be refunded as this is the one question that was not plainly answered amongst all the legal bull****. Finally, three months and three people later, the decency of a straight up no was finally extended. I understand that legally these are the terms of their contracts but whatever happened to good old fashioned customer service? Owning the error of an employee and trying to lessen the load on the customer that suffers for it. Why is it that I have had to run, phone and email after this company when I was the one wronged. And if a customers' contract is coming to an end, why is it that the gym doesn't notify these clients? Or is it that there is a reliance on a client not asking about this and the gym automatically pocketing an extra installment before the client thinks to terminate the contract? No matter how nice the tone of an email, if you're not helping me, a well written email just becomes downright patronizing. I have another two years to suffer through bad service and have clearly been duped. Here's hoping that anyone that hopes to sign up does not make a wrong turn and wages their bet somewhere else. Gyming here isn't worth the horrible administration.
