Zone Fitness debt

I opened an account with them and used it for 6 months then went to the Zone Fitness in Arcadia and cancelled and they never gave me any proof of cancellation. I thought it was cancelled. Now after a year and months they say I owe them 2.6k. I don’t owe them anything. I cancelled the account.
