********* personal trainers - Sable Square Branch

I have been part of the Sable Square branch for more than a year and a half. This after signing up just to get rid of the nagging sales person. After signing up and being a member, I have been contacted numerous times by sales people of the branch offering me free trials and gym membership at Sable Square, although i am already a member (clearly they have an updated system)

After joining, the one personal trainer repeatedly offered to train me at a 'special rate'. He would nag me while I am busy with my workout on the treadmill etc. I eventually told him I will train with him, but definitely not as often and frequently as he suggested. I paid him R500 in advance for 5 sessions.

Shortly after I was hospitalised for 2 weeks and was booked off for another couple of weeks. I explained this to him and also informed him that I will be unable to use the sessions in the near future. He said it is fine and he is my 'friend' and he understands - I won't lose my money.

Whilst in the process of cancelling my gym membership and having health issues (not having used ANY of my training sessions) I asked him if it will be possible to refund my payment as I will not be able to use the 5 sessions. I thought this will not be a problem as he claimed to see me as a 'friend' and 'understood' my situation. All the personal trainers also claim to have medical knowledge - he should thus be able to understand that excessive training will be harmful to my health.

However, his very RUDE response was that he does not do refunds and I can train with him without being a member of the gym. I explained to him that this is medical reasons and it will be ********* to simply keep my money without delivering a service. He rudely advised that he is running a business, whether I train with him or not. I advised him this is ********* behaviour and not good for his so called 'business's' reputation and values. The outcome is that he is not refunding my money and did not train me once. In my opinion this is *****ing. Any person or business with sound ethical values would've refunded a client's money if unable to deliver the goods or services.

After this I will definitely not even want to train with him. I don't even want to go near a Zone Fitness as this incident has put me off completely in the business as a whole.

His behaviour and attitude also makes me question the type of people that Zone Fitness employ and allow to be tenants in their facilities. I am highly dissapointed in this unprofessional and ********* conduct. Clearly they can not compete with a real gym like Virgin Active. I will not recommend them to anybody. They only try to sign you up, get your money and then provide you with extreme poor service. The gym equipment is also sub-standard in comparison with Virgin Active. Their aircon is not even in working condition 90% of the time.

NO Zone Fitness Sable Square.. I am dissapointed in your values and ethics as a business, as well as the quality of your staff and tenants. I suggest you consider the values of your staff before hiring and opening your gym up to *****s.

I have written this money off as a lesson learnt.. don't let sales people sweet talk you into buying services and goods. Learn to say 'no' and rather stick with reputable companies, in this case Virgin Active. If hard sell, nagging and pushy sales people are needed to sell a service or company, then one should anyway question the quality of the service offered..

All the best Zone Fitness Sable Square.. remember one can't expect to be successful whilst harming others.

Good Day Ms Burger

Firstly I would like to apologize for the unpleasant experience you have had in dealing with one of our clubs, and would like to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

As discussed in our phone conversation, I will be logging your complaint to the Regional Manager of the club, he should be in contact with you as soon as possible to assist.
