Outstanding fees on cancelled membership

Ive been a long time Zone fitness member at the Parow centre branch. I initially signed up for 2 years but ive been with the gym for more than 4 years so contractually i was never bound after the 2 year term was completed. Early last year i moved to somerset west and because there's no Zone there i had to cancel my membership...i did this in branch after failing telephonically and was told that cancellation will be captured and no fees apply as i was essentially on a month -to -month(post 2 years) basis. I joined Virgin and have not heard from zone since...that until yesterday. I receive a call from some associate telling me zone handed me over...how does this happen when i cancelled my membership and never defaulted while i was a member? The associate agent tells me its a cancellation fee...ridiculous i was not bound in! my 2 year contract ended 2 years ago!!! for the entire year i was never contacted by zone and never informed that according to their records i have a balance...i was never given an opportunity to dispute and now you've handed me over. Absolutely appalling service and its not the first time im at the receiving end of bad accounts administration from Zone fitness. Please can i urge you to correct this...i owe zone nothing and will take this matter further if i receive more threatening phone calls
