GERM CONTAMINATION AT ZONE FITNESS CAMPUS SQUARE

I recently joined the Zone Fitness at Campus Square earlier on this year in August. Everything was going smoothly until last week Monday when I picked up a germ/virus from using the gym mats!

I have made it a point to clean the mats that I use on a daily basis before using them with the cleaning products provided at the gym which I have been doing for 3 months now. On Monday the 5th of November I wiped down the mat with the cleaning agent and carried on training. I did not shower at the gym that day and went straight home after gym as I had exams to prepare for. Monday at midnight I woke up from my sleep with my entire body just itching like crazy! This was only the beginning.

Since the 5th November till 11th November I have been suffering with this germ/disease I contracted. I was hospitalised due to the severity of it and I still have not recovered. I have been to 2 doctors of which both were so shocked to see the state of my body.

The germ spread all over my body (legs, arms, back, face, scalp). It literally looked like I had a disease. If one had to see pictures you would be appaulled by the state of how it looked. During the course of all of this, my entire face, hands and feet were so swollen that I couldn't do anything besides sit and do nothing for an entire week!

I was unable to write 2 of my examinations due to the severity of this and keep in mind I am still not better.

The hygiene of this gym has made me question if they do even clean the gym at all - not to mention that I cleaned the mat I used that day myself and yet I still contracted this germ!

The stress, trauma and depression as well as the financial inconvenience of this is unacceptable for a gym where hygiene should be the main priority.

I have had to put my academic life on hold for a whole week because of pure negligence by the gym management and staff.

Leave out the fact that I had to put my life on hold for a week - what if this was more severe and it turned out to be a flesh eating disease/measels/shingles etc...

The negligence at this gym is astounding and I would not refer anyone to join a Zone Fitness anywhere in the country as this is very disgusting.

To sum it up in one sentence I feel like a huge germ myself after I have been infected. I demand that management take responsibility with regards to their clients as I will be taking thia further with the branch themselves.
