Excellent Managerial S****s

I would like to bring to your attention a situation that took place at Zone Fitness Muizenberg.

Upon arriving at the gym entrance on Tuesday at about 18h30 I was met with a new client sign up taking place at the Reception counter. I wanted to push passed them but also noticed that the access card scanner was upside down so I stood there waiting. While I was standing there not being acknowledged another staff member comes into the gym, she is also unable to use the entrance turnstile and then uses the exit. I then followed her example only to be stopped two steps in by an aggressive stranger, mind you this male was standing there chatting with another staff member the entire time I was waiting to use the correct turnstile. He then advised me to enter in the proper manner using the proper turnstile. I had advised that I will not do so, as I am already in the gym and now have wasted about 5 minutes of my training time but will scan my card. He then proceed to violate my personal space and grab hold of my arm and barked that he is the manager and he will ensure that members follow the rules. In regularly attending the gym for the past four months I have never seen this man.

I went back out through the exit and scanned in because now all the staff could see the scene caused by the “Manager” and could empty the Reception area and put the card scanner back the correct way. I proceeded to continue with my training session.

This “Manager” had the entire hour thereafter to realise he had assaulted a paying client and come and apologise to me. I am reasonable and would have left it there.

The entrance to the gym has CCTV footage where you can see the incident for yourself as I would also find it hard to believe that a “Manager” physically grabs paying clients for following examples set by his own staff.

1. Your staff ignored me.

2. Any issues with new or old clients should not be dealt with by the Entrance turnstile blocking other clients from entering.

3. This “manager” saw me waiting and did not tell the other staff to assist me.

4. The staff member who entered through the exit turnstile did not even acknowledge me or tell another staff member to assist me.

5. The “manager” of your gym sees it fit to physically assault clients to solve MINOR disputes.

The gym is deteriorating and the staff lack professionalism. This is a direct result of poor management and after my first interaction with him I fully understand why.

I do look forward to hearing from you and the steps you will take to remedy the situation.
