Cancellation Terms

I requested the penalty for cancelling a 24 month contract and it appears to be 60% of the outstanding months.

I am fully aware that there is always a penalty fee for cancelling the contract prematurely, but I think it is extremely unreasonable for it to be 60% of the remaining months.

I was willing to pay up to 30%, but double that is just simply too much.

Circumstances change: people move or are forced to cut down on non-essential expenses and this kind of exorbitant penalty makes it very difficult to do so.

Is this not somehow controlled by the Consumer Protection Act?

I see that there are a lot of people complaining about the same situation. Is this not rather damaging to the company's reputation?

I will most probably simply be handed the terms and conditions of the contract that I signed for etc.

It doesn't make it less unreasonable, though.

Regards

Hello alevin,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

As per the Consumer Protection act a cancellation fee can be asked on early termination of a membership but does not indicate the percentage of the cancellation fee.

The Branch manager of the Willowbridge branch will contact you and assist with your complain.

Kind Regards
Ilse
