Ambiguous/vague contract terms + debit orders

I entered into a 12 month contract with the Bellville Zone Fitness club not realizing the shenanigans I would be subjected to later into the term of the contract. The entire contract seems to be a bunch of ambiguous and unclear terms designed to trap subscribers which makes a dispute almost impossible. I have incurred over R800 in bank charges because of constant re-submissions of debit orders on days that I was not notified of and couldn't have possibly agreed to. When I try to dispute and have the charges clarified by management, I get a ******** story each and every time that the member of management is not available and that I should go to my bank to clarify the charges. But neither the management of Zone Fitness nor the bank wants to take responsibility and I was subjected to a game of cat and mouse. I am told that my account is in arrears and that I should pay the outstanding fee before I can sign a REQUEST to have the account cancelled. I am utterly and completely disgusted by this kind of treatment and urge anyone who is considering entering into an agreement with them to take the time to read their terms carefully because it will become an unforeseen problem later.

Hello MpiloG,

Firstly I would like to apologize for the unpleasant experience you have had in dealing with one of our clubs, and would like to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and allowing us the opportunity to investigate.

As per our phone conversation, I have logged your complaint to the Operations Manager of the Club, as well as The Membership Accounts Controller, who is already looking into the situation.

Someone should be in contact with you as soon as possible to assist.

Kind Regards
Stephen
