GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND WITH MY CLAIM

I have a GAP cover with Zestlife sinced 2013, and I should have read the reviews on Hellopeter before taking the gap cover. I put in a claim for hospitalisation and attached proof that I paid R7100 co-payment, which is required by Discovery medical aid. I got a response that they needed a statement from my medical aid as the first one I had sent does not show how much Discovery paid. I did that. I called and email Discovery twice and everytime, I get the same statement. I have sent proof of payment to Zestlife and I have also sent them the hospital bill that clearly shows that I paid R7100 (even highlighted it for them. However, they will not assess my claim until I get what they want Discovery to have in their statement. I am not sure why they don't contact Discovery themselves because I don't work for Discovery and cannot tell them what to put in their statements. Zestlife can clearly see that I paid the money but they will use every trick in the book to dodge paying or even assessing my claim. Please read reviews about companies you do business with before you commit. I should have done the same as there are hardly any positive reviews about Zestlife. Lesson learned!

Dear Tshidiln

We do apologise that you feel we have given you the run around with your claim.

The claim form clearly stipulates the supporting documentation required to enable us to work together to process your claim quickly. The reason we require the medical aid statement reflecting that the co-payment was levied is because in certain circumstances the medical aid might waive the co-payment. Unfortunately your medical aid will not provide information directly to us unless we have their 3 page mandate signed by you giving us authority to request information on your behalf. I refer to our telephone call earlier today and trust that we have managed to explain what we required to proceed with the assessment of the claim.

We receive approximately 1 800 claims per month and I assure you that we make every effort to process each claim quickly and to assist where possible to get outstanding information. I trust that your next experience with us will be proof of our efforts and be more positive.

Best regards

Noleen
