Deposit refund

Dear Edgar Thank you for posting your complaint on Hello Peter. You were requested to vacate your flat in January 2016 as you had repeatedly failed to pay your rent on time. At the end of January you hadn’t paid your January rent and the balance on your account was R3 683.79. Unfortunately, the flat was left in a poor condition and we needed to have the flat cleaned. There were also a few maintenance items that were required (for example replacing a broken curtain rail). We determined that the maintenance was required and that the flat was in a generally worse off condition (beyond fair wear and tear) by comparing the in-inspection that you signed with the building manager when you originally took occupation with the out-inspection that you again signed with the building manager when vacating the premises. Your deposit was R4 620.00 and after adding interest accrued on your deposit and deducting the unpaid rent, cleaning of the flat and maintenance you were refunded a net amount of R247.37. Unfortunately, after reviewing the events and amounts related to your deposit refund we are unable to adjust the amount refunded to you Kind regards Zahavi Estates
