The store had no money for my return and now they won't accept it

I went to return some clothes this week at the Eastgate shop. They did not have cash and asked me to come back on another day. The cashier wrote on the receipt. Today when I went back I found a different cashier and they told me it was over 14 days. They refused to refund me.
