Refusal to Honour Consumer Protection Act – Return of Shoes - Incorrect Size

I recently attempted to return a pair of shoes to YDE for an exchange. The store refused, stating that their policy only allows returns within 14 days.

This response is ******** under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Section 56 of the CPA provides consumers with a six‑month imp**** warranty on all goods. If goods are defective, unsafe, or not fit for purpose within six months of purchase, the consumer has the right to elect a refund, repair, or replacement. Importantly, this right cannot be limited by a store’s internal policy or signage.

By refusing my request, YDE has disregarded the CPA and denied me my statutory rights. I urge YDE to review its practices and align them with the law. Consumers should not be misled into believing that they only have 14 days to return defective goods when the law clearly provides six months.

I request that YDE honours its legal obligations under the CPA and resolves this matter by allowing the exchange or refund as required.
