Unresolved Issue with Woodford Car Rental - King Shaka Branch

I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Woodford Car Rental at their King Shaka branch, and I feel compelled to share my concerns.

As a first-time customer, I returned the car in perfect condition and received an email confirming the cancellation of my rental agreement, with no mention of any damage. However, seven and a half hours later, I received a very low-resolution photo showing a dent in the rear panel of the car, which was not reported earlier.

I immediately contacted Woodford’s customer care, expressing my concern that something was wrong. I was told that an investigation would be carried out. Despite this, the system continued to process automated emails related to my rental, and a few days later, I received an invoice for R4895 – conveniently just under the amount reserved on my credit card.

I can state with 100% cer*****y that the car was in perfect condition when I returned it. I personally inspected the vehicle before handing it back. In fact, in an email response from a Woodford employee, it was acknowledged that the dent likely occurred after the car was returned, possibly from someone bumping into it while the car was parked on their premises. There were no signs of an actual accident, and the dent showed no scratches or damage consistent with a collision.

Despite my attempts to resolve the issue, customer care has been unresponsive, and my concerns have gone largely ignored.

I strongly advise others to stay clear of the King Shaka branch of Woodford Car Rental. This experience has been a complete lack of customer service and transparency, and I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future."

Better, every day.

Due to the evasive and time-wasting tactics employed by your "Customer-Service" department, I have opted open my complaint to this public forum.

Complaint:
I, the customer have had my credit card unfairly debited by Woodford Car Hire (King Shaka Branch). The amount reserved was in excess of R5000.00 for a scratch that was allegedly caused during my period of hire. This notification was sent 9 hours after I had dropped off the vehicle. Having checked the car before dropping off I immediately disputed the scratch and requested a picture be forwarded to me. After much back and forth, a grainy, blurred pic of the scratch was sent, indicating that the vehicle was not even in the original parking space, meaning it had been moved.

I continued to dispute the damage, but Woodford's "Customer Care" is neither "Customer Friendly" nor "Caring". I was soon caught in a barrage of automated responses (See above).

I am offering Woodford Car Hire the opportunity to rectify their error, by reimbursing my deposit of R5000.00. Failing to do this is paramount to theft. They have not acted honestly and transparently in this matter. I will not be held hostage to their account of how this damage occurred. As the customer I cannot be responsible for the 9 hour time lag after handing over the vehicle. This damage occurred within the parking lot and I am being unfairly charged for it.

Dear Woodford Car Hire, in order to restore your integrity and employ good business practice, please refund me.
