Slightly disturbing service but not catastrophic

I rented a car from Woodford in Cape Town from 5th April to 7th April. I was allocated a Chery (which was not the vehicle I originally booked.) The car was clean and brand new however on the way to Paarl I felt the vehicle was very underpowered. I noticed that the orange engine light had come on but it was very indistinct and I was not sure it was even on. I pulled over and turned the engine off and then restarted to make sure the engine warning light was in fact illuminating. I then realised the vehicle was actually in limp mode and that accounted for the lack of power. The documents I was given with the vehicle contained no emergency or other contact number. I eventually called the number on the license disc holder. No reply. I then Googled a "customer care" number for Woodford in Cape Town. No reply.....went to voice message "not available". Eventually I found another number for so called "customer care" and was told they would put me through to the correct person. No one rep**** when I was put through and I was eventually cut off. I finally found another Woodford number for emergencies and insisted that the person that I spoke to should not transfer me or give me any other numbers and that he should deal with the problem immediately. I told him what the problem was and he said it was merely indicating that the car needed a service. I had to explain to him that the vehicle was in limp mode and that is why the car engine warning light had come on and that I needed a replacement car because driving a vehicle in that state could damage the vehicle further. A while later I received a message that a replacement car was being despatched to my hotel in Paarl. The car was duly replaced with a Toyota Cross however there was no record regarding KM's travelled, the fuel used or how these issues would be later resolved. I found this whole situation somewhat disturbing. I was happy the car was replaced albeit with some difficulty. Woodford should really issue a list of emergency numbers that are properly manned for cases like mine. It is really frustrating not to have calls answered. For the rest it was a good service at a good price. I did fill up the tank before returning the vehicle but I had no idea if the tank was full to begin with. As an added comment I also noted that the Chery was not 100% full when I collected the car in Cape Town. I queried this and was told that this is normal.....quite frankly I do not believe the fuel gauge would show 1 bar less than full if the tank was indeed full as Woodford personnel claimed.....an also somewhat disturbing issue in the this particular scenario.
