RIP-OFF

AT 9.30 on Friday the 22nd February I went into Woodfords OR Tambo office to hire a car. I was attended to by Strini who wore a "TRAINEE" badge. Firstly he was not at all sure as to which vehicles were available for hire . He initially said that a vehicle was available, but later found out that it was a vehicle rented to someone else. He hurriedly took down my information, without explaining anything to me about the terms and conditions and asked me to sign on the screen of a laptop as they were closing at 10pm. I paid a deposit of R5000.00 and R613.84 by credit card. The R613.84 included Vehicle rental of R333.72, Airport levy of R36.71, Tourism Levy of R3.34, Vat 80.07, Contract fee of R65.00 and Insurance R95.00. A severe storm started while I was still at their offices, so I was concerned about driving in the rain and decided to book-into a hotel at the airport and not take the hired vehicle which could not be found in the parking section as the man in charge of the parking had fininsed work at 10pm and left. Strini said that the contract would be cancelled and a refund made to my account. An amount of R250-00 was refunded from R613.84, which I think is total rip-off. I also discovered later, when the UNSIGNED CONTRACT was sent to me that the required deposit was R3200.00 and not R5000.00. I sent an email to ********** to discuss the matter with their management, but, they seem not interested. It makes me wonder who pockets the levies,vat and insurance when a contract is cancelled.
