Double charge - Waiver costs changed

Issue No 1

I renewed my whybuycars contract on the 24th of November and was told to go to the branch to make a payment for my contract fee and that my lease amount would be paid via debit order. I was also told that my waiver in case of an accident would be R5000.

On the 25th of November at the branch, I was told that I need to pay the full amount (contract fee + lease amount) and that the debit order would not go through this month. And I was not informed that a further change of waiver would be R17000. I fully paid and collected the vehicle on the amount of R5785

On the morning of the 26th, I received a notification that a debit order had gone through from Woodford in the amount of R 5623. The same DO that I was told would not go through

I have been in contact with Thabani, but he has not given me a response regarding this issue.

Issue No 2

I was involved in an accident at around midday on 26/11/202. I reported the accident to whybuycars as well as to the police station and a report at the branch.

I paid for towing the vehicle to the branch R2800 and was told to go have the issue sorted at the Branch.

At the branch, I was told I don't have any waiver on my contract and I am liable to pay R17000. I don't know how that was allowed, no rental company will let vehicles out without insurance. When I took out the renewed contract I was informed that my liability is R5000 which I accepted as I informed the lady who assisted me. I also guided myself with the info on the whybuycars website as well as the welcome letter that I received after I took the contract that my waiver is R5000.

Conclusion

I received conflicting information:

-My lease amount would be paid via debit order then it was changed without informing me of the reasons and reverted back to debit order while the payment was already made via card.

-My waiver conditions that I agreed on for R5000 changed to R17000 without me being notified of the reasons

-IT would have been fair that after all these conditions change I was notified of all the changes so I was aware. I feel that I was deceived by the company

Dear Leo

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

I am extremely sorry you seem to be facing these challenges and conflicted by all this uncer*****y.

Please kindly note that we have been facing many challenges with regards to payment from our customers in the why buy cars department which has lead to us being forced to initiate some drastic and sudden changes. Our challenges all result to 1 very common problem and that’s monthly payments.

Please kindly note that we inform our customers from the very beginning of the rental that Why buy cars is specifically offered to those customers that are struggling to purchase vehicles due to them being blacklisted or have other issues in getting finance on a vehicle and while our concept has become extremely convenient, we do try our utmost best to remind our customers that due to you not putting a deposit down for the vehicle leased out - we are stringent when it comes to monthly installments on the vehicle as having no deposit put down becomes high risk if monthly installments are not paid on time.
- this takes a huge strain on the business. We have had to many customers who have requested leniency on payments even after knowing fully well how the why buy cars operate. Unfortunately, as much as we would love to assist all our customers in this regard , we cannot grant leniency to everyone who chooses to use our services.

Please kindly note that payment methods are explained upon our customers inquiring about our services. It is for this reason alone that we are now being forced to implement new payment methods so we do not have misunderstandings and payment issues such as these.

Please kindly note that I will definitely look into this matter as a matter of urgency and provide feedback once I have investigated your rental and addressed your concerns with management.

My customers are priority and I value each of you. We are merely putting certain terms and conditions in place which will only improve the services we offer and avoid experiences like this.

The why buy cars is a great concept that has benefited our customers in many ways but like anything new- there are teething issues in the beginning and I can only assure you that our goal is to take all this constructive criticism and valuable feedback and use this as an extremely vital learning tool to improve in every aspect of our business.

Please kindly bare with us - you will not regret this at all.  I do thank you for choosing our services and can confidently assure you that All future endeavors with us will be nothing short of pleasant and efficient in the long run.

Should you require any further information or clarity on anything, please do not hesitate in contacting me directly.... I am here to help :-)

Yours Sincerely
Samantha

No response from the company whatsoever.

Double charge to customers is company business procedure as per Dinesh. I still have not been refunded.
Change of contract terms without notifying customers is company business procedure.
Any correspondence the company sends to customers is valid ONLY when it suits the company and not the customer.
