Bad customer service

I bought one of the sub brands of the Powertech group namely a Grand Prix battery, for 2 of my many vehicles. From day one the battery gave me problems of excessive corrosion around the terminals and eventually it corroded the terminal away. I contacted the manufacturer who then requested that I leave it at a an agent of theirs for collection after which they will send to their lab for inspection. It took 4 months for the report to come back and during the 5th month they returned the battery to the agent. So effectively I was without the battery for about 5 months. Battery was still working but the corrosion and subsequent lack of contact was quite annoying. The report came back as terminal abuse whihc was shocking to me. I currently own 16 vehicles and over the years of owning these vehicles have changed many batteries. It was only once I had switched to the Grand Prix battery that I had problems of early battery failure. It is my suggestion to stay away from these Grand Prix batteries as the service it gives is limited and there is no customer service or support which comes with the battery. To end it all the Agent misplaced the battery and therefore I don't even have the battery to use any longer. Can't blame the agent as they were merely assisting in the long drawn out process.

Good day.

Thank you for bring this to our attention. Firstly as a company we pride ourselves in giving good service. In this instance however there has been a lack of communication and follow up from us as manufacturer and supplier and we apologise for any inconvenience that has been caused through this. Could I ask that you supply me the details for the agent from which you bought the product from and subsequently returned the battery too so that we can investigate this matter?

Hi. If I remember correctly the selling dealer was Midas in Randburg and the dealer who assisted to accept the battery on behalf of your representative was Spares Connection in Malvern. Spares connection in my opinion cannot be blamed because your representative handling the matter did not give any feedback to me during the process and am sure didn't properly advise them. I think it was after 3 months when I followed up. He then advised that he will check and get to the battery back to Malvern but then he didn't repond and when I followed up again a few weeks later he advised that he didn't know but will have to check again if the battery had been delivered back to Malvern and come back to me. According to him it was apparently delivered to Malvern a month prior to advising me that it had been delivered to them. As I was away on holiday it then took me a few weeks to get to Spares connection but by that time they advised that they will look for it and come back to me. I visited them for a 2nd time and they advised that it could have been discarded since it was lying around for so long without any contact details of mine having been provided to them. The lack of communication and the fact that it takes your lab 3 months to test a battery has resulted in this bad service and eventual loss of the battery. Look forward to your resolution on the matter.

I received further feedback on the matter and was presently surprised with the outcome of this matter. Willard acknowledged that they probably didn't handle the matter properly from the start but that could have been purely due to a bad staff member who was tasked with resolution of the matter. This however reflected badly on the company and led me to write the report that I did. Willard went out of their way to instill my trust back in the brand. I received a very surprising gift hamper to say sorry for my trouble. Big thanks to Alta who personally delivered the gift pack. Trust is back in the brand that has been around giving people a great product.
