My experience with WheelTraders in Parow, Cape Town.
I bought a VW Caravelle through Wayne, he was fast and made it happen quickly. He assured me in an email and over the phone that if there are any problems they will fix them. I took a flight on 13 Aug to Capetown where Wayne picked us up and took us to Parrow to collect the VW. Everything went great. Wayne told me again they will fix any problem and that we will work something out from my town.
Still the same day after driving a while I picked up a few problems that I reported to Wayne and the week after: 1. The safety belt height adjuster did not work 2. Both sliding doors did not open from the inside 3. The sliding window latch cover was missing. 4. Power steering was stiff 5. The turbo booster pipe was fixed with duct tape 6. The front parking sensors did not work properly 7. They did not mention that a service was skipped 8. 2 of the back aircon outlets is blocked
And so the frustration began…. After a lot of phone calls and WhatsApp’s they send me parts on 16 Sep, a sliding door latch I had to send back because it’s the wrong part, I needed a lock. And the sliding window cover.
On 21 Sep they finally paid the power steering guy so I could fix the power steering.
They said the turbo pipe is fixed they did not have to fix it. So after back and forth, we concluded that a Duct tape fix is not a fix and that they will send me a pipe that I am still waiting for.
In the meanwhile, I fixed the safety belt height adjuster, the battery connection, the windscreen pipe that perished, the parking sensors, the left sliding window that came loos because it was poorly fixed because of an accident. And guess what, they told me it was accent-free. But when I got the car and saw the residue of polish and masking tape on the roof, I asked them why they tell me that the car was accident-free and it was not. There replay was that they just fixed some scratch marks. But that was clearly not the case when I took off the sliding door inside panel to fix the window.
After I sent an email to *** they tried to make a deal with me where they will buy new locks and a pipe and I must pay 42%, I said no but they can send me the parts and I will install it myself. So they sent me again 2 used Sliding door locks on 16 Nov that I had to send back, the one was the wrong part and the other was faulty. These parts are not easy to find used but a new one is, but they don’t want to buy it new if I don’t help with the bill.
Still waiting for the pipe.
After many WhatsApp’s and 60 calls from my side, at least 50% was not answered and 9 calls were from them and empty promises. I can't open my sliding doors from the inside and the turbo pipe is still held together with duct tape.
This is now 4½ MONTHS since I have the car and they still ask me to be patient and just give them some more time.
Now I’m on holiday travelling over 3000km and they still didn’t fix the sliding door locks and the duct tape pipe.
Feel free to buy from them, just don’t expect that your problems will be sorted out. It feels like they are playing for time to get past the 6 moths warranty or just want to frustrate you enough so you will sort out the problems yourself. I saw a similar review of someone that bought a BMW that had problems and they told him the use the warranty he bought through Wheeltaders and something else they did not want to fix. I assume they fixed it now and asked him to remove the review. Lets me wonder how many others have the same problem.
Also I assure you that clients are always sorted out when there are problems. Over 75% of our clients are referrals, from our other clients.
Also many clients use Hello Peter as a way of "pushing" dealers to assist them, its their choice to remove the review or not.
