WhatsApp account hacked - ZERO support!

My sons whatsapp account has been hacked and the hacker has contacted everyone on his contact list asking for money, what's worse is that Vodacom performed a simswap (without any of the required documents) The hacker has taken over his account and it seems that there is absolutely nothing we can do... Seems whatsapp does not have any people working supporting their app, only bots and AI that keep sending you from pillar to post without resolving the issue.
