Frustrated with Whatsapp after my number was hacked and I received no assistance

Good day,

My number was hacked about a week and a half ago and the person who hacked it is using my WhatsApp number ***) to **** people and ask them for money.

A lot of my contacts reported the number to WhatsApp, but nothing has been done to stop that number from operating. I would like this number to be completely deleted so that the person cannot access it to **** any more people.

Kindly assist urgently.
