Westville Veterinary Hospital - Pathetic

Lola, my 11 year old Alsatian mixed breed. Throughout the years, she never visited the vet due to being ill. She was an absolutely strong little girl. In April 2020, we discovered a lump on her inner legs, we decided to take her to Chatsworth Animal Clinic to have it inspected, they informed us that it was a cancerous tumor and that the only animal hospital in Durban that could remove the tumor (due to its size) was Westville Veterinary Hospital. Immediately, we rushed her to the Westville Veterinary hospital. They informed us that the tumor needs to be surgically removed. They did not inform us that by removing the initial tumor, it would cause much more tumors to develop easily and rapidly. They falsified information regarding Lola’s health. Still, they performed the operation, Lola was well & healthy afterwards. The bill for the operation was R15000. In August 2020, Lola was having trouble sitting down, she was crying when we touched her back. Again, we rushed her to Westville Veterinary Hospital at 20:00PM due to them being the only vet that’s open 24/7. They were apparently very busy at the time & Lola only got treated at 23:30PM. They claimed that she had sprained her back & that she had put on 7kgs in a space of 4 months. They DID NOT perform an x-Ray on her & they prescribed panado for the pain. The bill for that night without an x-Ray or proper treatment was R2000. In September 2020, Lola developed another lump on the side of her back leg, we visited Chatsworth Animal Clinic, where the veterinarian informed us that the cancer has come back & it’s much worse than the first time. We had to make a heartbreaking decision to put Lola down. It was the worst day of our lives. Looking at everything in hindsight, Westville Veterinary Hospital is a money making scheme! They are not interested in the well-being of our beloved furry family members. How do you know that it’s “just” a sprain & “just” fat without an x-ray? It was actually the tumor that was the 7kg that they claimed was “fat” They also did not inform us that if we didn’t remove the initial tumor, she would have most likely had much more time on earth. I know all too well about them claiming that it’s an “age” thing..but it surely wasn’t. Being 11 years old, she was still fit, still able to run, jump & bark. If Westville Veterinary Hospital has only informed us that the tumor came back, if they did an x-ray, if they actually spent the time inspecting Lola with care and consideration, things would have been different today. Please guys, think very carefully before trusting Westville Veterinary Hospital & it’s staff members as it is genuinely a money making scheme. We lost our baby due to their incompetence.
