*****ing money from customers

my sister sent me money from the UK and i went to the western union in east rand mall to recieve the money. when they gave me the money they used the US dollar exchange rate and not the Pound exchnage rate, when asked why they said we an american company and convert everything into us dollars which is illigal to start off with as you are not allowed to do that. if the money is from the uk you have to use the pound exchange rate. when i mentioned i was going to complain they wanted to know who i was working for what my salary was which has nothing to do with them. i will also be going to the monetary board regarding this as they are *****ing money from the customers and what they doing is ******* and should be held accountable and shut down.

Dear Ms. Wooldridge,

Western Union is writing to you in response to the complaint you sent on August 19, 2016 regarding two transactions received at Eastrand Mall. You stated that the receiving agent converted the receiving amount from USD to local currency. In addition, you advised that you were underpaid as the agent did not use the correct currency for conversion. Western Union has completed the investigation. Thank you for your patience while we carried out our investigation.

On August 30 and September 08 of 2016, you provided the following information.

MTCN: ***-***-8932

Receiver’s Name: Gwen Wooldridge.
Amount Received: 450.00 local currency.
Amount Expected: 561.00 Local currency.

MTCN: ***-***-8110

Receiver’s Name: Natasha Wooldridge.
Amount Received: 1889.00 local currency.
Amount Expected: 2200.00 Local currency.

Our records indicate that MTCN ***-***-8932 was not received by you. Because you are not the sender nor the receiver, we are unable to provide specific information regarding the transaction as Western Union’s contact is with the sender of the transaction.

Furthermore, our records indicate that MTCN ***-***-8110 was received by you on August 17, 2016. Please be advised that we have coordinated with the receiving agent and confirmed the following.

The total amount received was 1,889.99 in local currency.

Please be aware that South Africa is a Fixed on Receive country which means that the Foreign Exchange rate will be determined at the time the transaction is received. At the time of receipt, the agent converts the transaction from USD to ZAR at the rate they have fixed at the moment of payout. In addition, each agent in South Africa is granted a license to set their own rates; however, to comply with United States regulations, we do provide an expected payout rate in local currency at the time of send.

Please also note that the Western Union system in South Africa can only recognize USD currency. In addition, at the time of send, the sender was advised of the change in currency from pound to USD which she agreed upon by signing the To Send Money Form.

Western Union considers this case closed. If you should have any additional questions or concerns, you may email us at *** and provide the Western Union ***.

Sincerely,

The Western Union Executive Resolution Team
