Dear Maveli Mzalisi, Western Union is writing in response to your communication we received through Hello Peter on 5/11/2020 related to a resolution obtained via Western Union Case # ***4. You state that you did not receive an explanation as to why the exchange rate had become so high resulting in recipients receiving such low amounts. To reiterate our previous communication, please note that, when choosing a money transmitter, carefully compare both transfer fees and exchange rates. Fees and foreign exchange rates may vary by brand, channel, and location, based on a number of factors. Fees and rates are subject to change without notice. The typical exchange rate is adjusted 1-3 times a day, but exchange rates can change at any given time of day, any number of times, subject to currency volatility. The exchange rate between our online services and retail agent locations may also vary depending on the aforementioned factors. Our records indicate that on 30-APR-2020 at 09:48 AM Eastern Standard Time, a person with identification bearing the name of SIMBONGILE NDIVIWE MZALISI went to an agent location in the PORT ELIZABETH, EASTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA and provided the Money Transfer Control Number, sender’s name, place of origin and the amount expected. Please know that your payee signed Western Union’s to Receive Money Form prior to collecting the funds, and agreed to collect the funds in local currency. In addition, you also inquired in regards to a second money transfer in the amount of 1450 AED. Our records indicate that on 30-APR-2020 at 08:42 AM Eastern Standard Time, a person with identification bearing the name of SIVUYILE N****ENI went to an agent location in the JOHANNESBURG, GAUTENG, SOUTH AFRICA and provided the Money Transfer Control Number, sender’s name, place of origin and the amount expected. Please know that your payee signed Western Union’s to Receive Money Form prior to collecting the funds, and agreed to collect the funds in local currency. After further review of your transaction, Western Union confirms your transactions were paid correctly to the named payees as directed and your receiver collected the correct amount in local currency. All Western Union’s policies and procedures were properly followed. In addition, we have confirmed that no errors were made by Western Union in regards to your transactions' exchange rate. As your transactions were Fixed on Send, the exchange rate provided on the Senders receipt at the time a transaction was finalized would be the same rate that was paid out to your receiver in South Africa. As a courtesy to you, Western Union has added 500 points to your My WU® account. Your My WU® account currently has a balance of 1055 points. These points are available for your immediate use and must be used within one calendar year. Western Union has concluded its investigation, however, if you have any additional questions or concerns regarding this resolution, please contact our Corporate Headquarters at ***, and provide the Western Union Reference #: ***0.
