Lying ****

Wish I could give 0 stars. Sent money to a friend in Nigeria using the ABSA Western Union option. First transaction there was no problem. ABSA then had IT issues so did the next 2 transaction at a Bidvest Western Union - again no problems. 4th Transaction used ABSA again this time when my friend went to collect he was told the MTCN has expired he then called & I went onto ABSA & requested a refund as I had 1 more transfer to do to my friend so thought I'd combine the 2. Did the new transfer when my friend went to collect he was told he had exceeded his monthly limit so again I requested a refund. Next minute ABSA called to cross question why I wanted to send the money (not that it is any of their business) as WU in Nigeria had the receiver flagged. I did the transfer when I received the 2 refunds using a different method. Suddenly on Saturday my friend was detained on suspicion of ***** after WU in Nigeria reported him claiming I had reported him to them as suspicious. What !@£$ing ******* if you are going to report people have the decency to own up to it. Your staff are **** and you are the worst company on the planet to use to try send money.

Dear Apple Cheeks,

Western Union is writing in response to the complaint received from you through the Hello Peter portal. In your complaint, you indicate that you had sent funds to a payee in Nigeria from the agent location ABSA and had several problems. In addition, you state that the Western Union in Nigeria reported your payee on suspicion of ***** claiming that you had made the report and you did not.

I attempted to call you to the telephone number included on your complaint but was unable to get through to you. I assure you that your business is greatly valued and sincerely regret any inconvenience you have experienced with the initial handling of your issues.  Please be aware that we do not report specific individuals, as most countries have laws and regulations that prevents companies from releasing individuals’ information without a duly warranted court order/subpoena. Western Union works frequently with police organizations around the world but it’s important to note that our role is not law enforcement. Because of this, and the fact that receivers can pick up funds anytime, from a broad number of locations, we cooperate with law enforcement agencies to help in their investigation and prosecution of people who take advantage of our services to commit *****.

Western Union attempted to acquire transaction details and agent location details to investigate your concerns and have not received the details. Please provide us with the following information: 1) MTCN of the 4th transaction that your payee could not collect due to expiration.2) MTCN of the final transaction that your payee could not collect due to exceeding his monthly limit.3) The sender’s name as it is on the transactions4) The payee’s name as it is on the transactions5) The ABSA location that had IT issues6) The ABSA location that questioned you.7) The Western Union location in Nigeria that had flagged your payee. Western Union is unable to proceed with this investigation since the requested information has not been received. Once gathered, please contact our Corporate Headquarters at ***, and provide the Western Union Reference #: *** and we will proceed with further reviewing this case. You may also email us at ***.  Sincerely, The Western Union Executive Resolutions Team

Best regards,
