Incompentent emergency services - disgusting service.

I recently moved to Wilgeheuwel, I was super excited to have an emergency vet close to me. But after last night i was bitterly disappointed. I will never use this vet again. My dog needed assistance, he was getting sick and dry heaving, and was in a lot of discomfort. At 8pm last night, i rushed to Westrand Emergency Vet Clinic, they did a checkup and then needed to do xrays, After the xrays the doctor on duty said that my little guy had a blockage, but they didnt know what it was. So they gave 2 options. 1. Take the xrays and and a referral letter to Fourways 24hr vet as they had better equipment to investigate further. 2. They needed to operate, cut his tummy open, and see what the blockage is.

I gladly chose option 1, as Fourways Vet was my emergency vet of choice in my old house. But i walked out of the first vet with essentially nothing, and greater panic than i already had, for a lot of money. So i went through to Fourways with the xrays and(Now roughly 9:30pm), and was told there was an hour wait - which i was happy to do, as my little guy had settled a but, but something was still wrong. When i eventually saw the doctor, they had to redo the xrays as the ones from Westrand were of poor quality, and could not actually be used. So once the new xrays were done, the doctor on duty said there was no blockage, and no ultrasound was needed. So they began to induce vomitting, and it turns out there was a piece of grass/plant stuck in his throat and halfway into his stomach, but it would not go down, or come up, so that is what was causing the discomfort, and gagging - he is a bit tired today, but comfortable.. The first resort of the initial vet was just to cut him open, i cannot believe that. I am still in shock. If you are an emergency vet you should have all the right equipment to do at least initial diagnosis properly, instead of wasting peoples time and money, and having them drive all over town in the middle of the night. I am not even upset about the money, as you all know, for your pets money is not even a question, i am just worried if it was more of an emergency, what would have happened to my little guy.
