Horrible service and ridiculous pricing

I had an emergency with my cat on Monday that necessitated a trip to an emergency vet. I was destined to use my normal without realizing that they had forwarded their calls to Westrand Emergency Vet.

The Dr on duty was incredibly rude and refused to stabilize my cat before the paperwork was completed. Surely, like in a human emergency, the main goal is to stabilize the patient first?? It’s also not like I can go anywhere.

After some time arguing about getting him to stabilize my cat enough to transport her to my normal vet for further care, I was met with the ridiculous bill…

How is it even ethical to charge R1557 for a drip setup which costs a couple hundred Rand in a human hospital?? Then to charge R244 per medication that he injected. I’ve not only been in the medical industry for the last 20 years, but I’ve worked with MANY vets and have NEVER been so incredibly ********** as I was by Westrand Vet. I think it’s disgusting how vets like this take advantage of people in a crisis by overcharging for items that are ordinarily not expensive

The two hours of her stay at Westrand Vet cost almost R4000 for a drip and a couple of meds.

Her 5 day stay at my normal vet costs a little more than the bill at Westrand and they did more to stabilize and treat her during her 5 day stay with them.
