Wesbank's credit vetting does not make sense

I have been a client of Wesbank for 4 years and have had 2 cars financed by them. I have been a great client up until recently when I skipped a payment.

This payment was rectified and I paid the arrears installment and the current installment the next month. My account is up to date.

I then tried to trade my vehicle in for a cheaper option. I came to an agreement with a dealership on a vehicle costing R100 000 less than my current car.

Wesbank declined my application.

This was due to my previous late payment. I then tried to speak to someone who could help and have had no luck.

I am trying to purchase a more affordable car so that I am never in the situation again whereby I skip a payment.

Wesbank should take this into account. Can anyone help?

Hello jminne,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention and affording us the opportunity to address your concerns.

Direct contact was made to advise that the declined application is the result of an undesirable deal structure in lieu of an overpriced asset.

We trust that this matter was resolved to your satisfaction and that our efforts have restored your faith in WesBank.

Yours sincerely,
WesBank
