Wesbank is a Disgrace

My wife took out Vechile Finace through WesBank on a Toyota Etios 1.6 liter hatchback when she bought the vehice through Toyota KuilsRiver in 2017.

She (we) paid half of the vehicle up until this year. I unfortunately lost my employment and we fell behind on the monthly installments.

WesBank collections department never contacted my wife to make any sort of payment arrangment to enquire why no payments or being made towards the vehicle.

When contact was made it was not via the Wesbank colections department but rather through a tracing agent called John Martin who advised me that he works for WesBank. This is after a Summons were dropped off at our previous residence and which my father only gave us after a week after it was dropped off.. The Summons is dated the 21-06-2019. The summons stipulate that the defendant my wife Geneve Smith was R10.229.60 in arrears.

She attempted to make payment arrangements with a Wesbank Agent called Agnes that works in the collections department that was arrogant and quite harsh at times and not open to assisting us in making any payment arrangements. We were advised that we need to speak to Mrs Jane Pillay from Jeff Gowar Inc and associates her email address is ***. I personally spoke to her and she advised that as long as we make payment towards the arrears that the vehicle will be safe.

We paid a total amount of R11000 in two months up until the 29-July-2019. I was going to make a further deposit on the 5th of August 2019. Up until that point there was only an outstanding balance of R1800 which they refused to accept.

I called Agnes in the collections department literally begging to accept that amount as it would have covered the outstsanding amount over and above..

My wife spoke to Tabiso, Agnes, Melinda line manager or supervisor and Lungile Madinana Department Manager.

None of the above Agents or Managers were willing to accomadate us to make the payment.. They accepted a total amount of R11000 from when the summons was issues up until the car was repossesed. When I spoke to Jane Pillay from Jeff Gowar Inc and tried to reason with her she became very rude and dropped the phone in my ear.

I find it very strange that before the summons was issued no one from the collections department contact my wife to make payment arrangments and I challenge WesBank to provide us with a recorded conversation where anyone from their collections department contacted my wife. Agent -Agnes and a lady her surname is Kruger also advised telephonically that no one from the collections department was suppose to make any arrangements with my wife since the the summons was issued. This completely contradics what Jane Pillay advised me telephonically when she informed me that as long as payment is made and money is going into the FNB account the vehicle will be safe.

The sherrif of the court came and collected the vehicle on the 6-08-2019 at 6am the morning while my wife was getting ready to take my daughter to school.

So if no payment arrangements were to be made since the summons was issued why did they still take the R11000 rand from us and then take the vehicle when we were a mere R1800 in arrears and when I was willing to make the payment of R4400 the previous day.

Wesbank is a bunch of ******* and ******. Yes we not denying the fact that we could not afford to make payment but they made arrangements with us after the summons was issued and then when there was a total amount outstanding of only R 1800 they took the vehicle.

They advised us that they will investigate the matter but they only trying to shut us up. They cant provide us with audio recording where their collections agents spoke to my wife to make arrangements. Nor have we received any registered mail from them nor did they advise us that we can go to court to ask for a payment arrangement after I have been in discussion with mrs Jane Pillay and neverbhas she informed me that we have the right to know when the matter was going to be heard in Court.

Wesbank is a Disgrace.
