Wesbank forced debit order motor vehicle insurance

I received a call from Wesbank call centre? The agent wanted me to verify my personal information (Email address, ID Number, Telephone Number & Address etc.) over the phone. I informed the agent that I would not give out my personal information over the phone - as I could not verify this is not a **** call. With identity theft and ****s rife these days, I cannot just give out my personal information to anyone that phones me!
The call centre agent proceeded to inform me that Wesbank would send me an email for proof of my vehicle insurance & that if I did not respond within 7 days, there would be a forced debit order loaded to debit Wesbank's own insurance policy from my account! I informed the agent that this is highly ********* & that I had supp**** Wesbank with proof of my insurance when I purchased my vehicle. The agent insisted that it is in my terms of contract that I signed that I must provide proof of insurance on an annual basis.
How can it be legal for Wesbank to force insurance on me if I do not reply to an email & if I do not provide my private details to a phone call that I cannot verify??!! This is a highly ********* practice & I am very disappointed in Wesbank.
