Wesbank destroying my credit profile
I purchased a 2008 BMW 320i through Wesbank private finance, the vehicle was inspected by Titleguard which is mandatory and is a requirement implemented by Wesbank to insure that the vehicle that the client is purchasing is in running condition and is reliable, I understand this process as it protects Wesbank aswell as the client. Anyway Titleguard gave the go ahead and insured Wesbank aswell as myself that the car is in overall sound condition and the deal can then be processed. I then took delivery of the vehicle in September 2016 on a Friday morning (I can’t remember the exact date but I have email correspondence) on my way home I noticed the engine light came on and took it to my reliable mechanic I have used for years so that he can see why. He then told me the car has a blown head gasket and has been that way for a while now.... weird that Titleguard didn’t pick that up? Anyway I phoned Wesbank the following Monday and told them this, they then sent Titleguard inspectors to view the car who then tried to blame me but luckily the mechanic I took it too was able to prove to them it had been like that way before I got the car. After weeks of fighting with Wesbank they eventually agreed to have the car repaired at their cost and I was instructed to take it to my nearest BMW dealer which was BMW ALBERANTE. The car was repaired and the cost was R50000, after a few days of driving the repaired car I noticed it started smoking badly, so I took it back to BMW and they told me the blown head gasket had actually caused more damage than we all had thought. I got on the phone with Wesbank again and told them and they said they not prepared to pay anymore, so now I had another fight on my hands which took a few weeks before I managed to get an appointment to go to Wesbank in Fairlands and have a meeting where Wesbank agreed to take the car back and auction it off and I would have to look for another car. So I went and bought a Ford Focus from WE BUY CARS in Pretoria because now I was scared of any BMW. Wesbank then financed my new car with a 19% interest rate which is very high compared to the 13.5% they gave me on the first BMW ( this led me to believe that they are doing this to try recover their loses through me when they should be getting it back from Titleguard because someone didn’t do their job properly) also when looking for the new car none of the other banks would help me because the BMW was still on my name which also rings alarm bells supporting the fact that they are using me to get their money back. I had no choice but to accept their deal because I need a car to earn a living. I signed this deal and took delivery of the car in April 2017 and am still very happy with this car. In December 2017 I went to standard bank to see if they can refinance my car at a better rate and if they would do so I would move all my bank accounts to standard bank as I am not happy with Wesbank and they are attached to FNB which means I am prepared to leave them aswell. The lady is spoke to at standard bank said she can’t help me as the BMW is somehow still attached to my credit profile and has now ruined my credit record and therefore they can’t help me.. which again rings some bells where Wesbank are trying to force me to stay and they can get their money back that way. I phoned Wesbank and told them what I had discovered and they then apologized and said they will remove the Wesbank off my name and will see if they can’t renegotiate a new interest rate. They new rate they proposed is still way too high and now they refuse to help. Hopefully this will help my cause
