Wesbank delays paperwork weeks after settlement has been paid
My vehicle was written off on 13/12/2019. I liaised with my insurance company regarding the steps required to finalise the settlement with the bank as well as with myself. The first settlement amount was received from Wesbank on 31/12 and I was advised this settlement is not viable if the vehicle was written off (not sure what the point was as I advised the vehicle was indeed written off). After almost two weeks of myself as well as my insurance company trying to get a hold of Wesbank, we received the final statement on 14/01 which was now valid for a written off vehicle. The insurance paid the settlement amount and sent a mail to Wesbank on the same day 14/01 with the proof of payment as well as all of the required documentation, stating they require the registration papers before they will be able to settle the balance of the amount with me. I contacted Wesbank almost every day requesting feedback without any success until I was able to speak to someone on 21/01. Jabulani Tshabalala responded to my mail and requested the insurance company’s address – obviously to send the documents – at this point I thought all was resolved. I followed up on 23/01 to ensure the documents were in transit, however received no response. I followed up again on 27/01 stating I cannot wait any longer as I am without transport and require the settlement from my insurance company in order to purchase a vehicle as this process has taken over a month. I received a response from Thabiso Maapola stating the deregistration was rejected as the paperwork stated the vehicle as ****** and not written off, this now had to be re-submitted to the traffic department and the paperwork will be handed to Jabulani Tshabalala by Thursday 30/01. I enquired when the paperwork will be taken to my insurer and I was advised this will be couriered from Johannesburg once received – the vehicle was bought and used in Cape Town and the paperwork will now be delayed even longer. I have no idea when my insurance company will receive the required documentation in order to settle the balance of my claim with me and I was forced to take a balloon payment on a vehicle as I could not wait any longer to arrange transport.
Honestly have no words for the complete lack of prioritization and communication from Wesbank!
