WESBANK COLLECTIONS DEPARTMENT VERY UNRESPONSIVE
My car was repossessed on 18th November, 2019 due to my installments being in arrears. When I contacted Wesbank they said that were sending documents and notifications to my previous address and that my contract had been cancelled. Had I known there was summons and warrants I would have acted sooner and made arrangements to pay off the arrears, which at that stage ended up being legal fees. During this time time I kept on paying my monthly installment oblivious of what was going on. Wesbank now tell me they will only release the vehicle if I pay the full contract amount of R154000. I never had a chance to appear or defend any court orders or judgement because the documents were sent to my previous address. My argument is they sent the documents to my previous address but knew where to pick up the car at my present address. You phone them, email them, but to no avail, they are adamant, they want the full amount and nothing less. I have offered to pay the arrears, but they refuse. I am struggling without a vehicle and Wesbank refuse to budge. The Sheriff produced a document, Notice of attachment in execution, with an arrears amount of R13000, and he said that if I paid it, my vehicle will be returned. I've phoned numerous people to ask for this document, but now no one knows who has it. I believe they are stalling in order to have my vehicle auctioned. I feel Wesbank have been very uncooperative and have not bothered to answer or assist me. The only person who was willing to assist me, was the tracer.
