Vehicle finance declined

I would just like to find out regarding a wesbank account that was in arrears but was settled in Feb 2016. All applications on vehicle finance has recently been declined due to a wesbank account that was settled more than 2 and a half years ago. There is no judgements or anything negative on my credit report. Could someone please let me know how long it takes to clear this conduct on the banks side? Or alternatively what else i could do from my side to sort this out?
