**“Utterly *********** and Irrational: WesBank Rejects Even the Most Creditworthy Applicants”**
My experience with WesBank has been nothing short of baffling and frankly unacceptable.
I app**** for vehicle finance expecting a professional, rational assessment based on my financial standing — instead, I was met with what feels like a completely arbitrary rejection. This is despite the fact that I am the Managing Director of my own engineering company, with a consistent net income ranging between R200,000 and R350,000 per month. My credit score sits comfortably around the 700 mark, which is widely considered strong.
I provided *everything* requested: full private and business bank statements, my employment contract, and complete financial transparency. My credit profile is exceptionally clean — no credit card debt, no personal loans, no judgments, and a fully settled revolving credit facility with R300k available. On top of that, my existing financial commitments are not just up to date, but significantly ahead: my home loan is ahead by over R350k, and my current vehicle finance with MFC Nedbank is ahead by more than R50k.
What makes this even more frustrating is my flawless history with WesBank itself. I previously financed two vehicles through them and did not miss a *single* payment across both agreements. Not one.
After 35 years of continuous employment as a Civil Engineer — never unemployed, never defaulted — being declined under these circumstances is not just disappointing, it raises serious questions about the competence or logic of their assessment criteria.
There is either a severe flaw in their system or a complete disregard for actual financial credibility. Either way, this experience has completely eroded my confidence in WesBank. I would strongly caution others, even those with excellent financial standing, not to assume a fair or sensible outcome when dealing with them.
