Unfair Vehicle Finance Decline Despite Good Payment Behaviour and Employment
WesBank Declined My Vehicle Finance Despite Good Payment Behaviour and Permanent Employment. I am extremely disappointed in the way WesBank handled my recent vehicle finance application.
Despite being a loyal WesBank customer and submitting all required documents, including:
Proof of permanent employment (since 1 August 2024),
A stable gross monthly income of R29,000,
Paid-up letters for previously affected accounts,
And a clear record of current good payment behaviour,
my application was still declined, based on past payment history.
I clearly communicated that any negative payment behavior in the past was due to a period of unemployment. Since becoming permanently employed, I have made consistent efforts to settle my debts and restore my financial standing. Yet, WesBank continues to ignore my updated financial situation and labels me as “too risky.”
This would be my first vehicle, and I need reliable transport to commute to work as I travel a long distance daily. I trusted WesBank to assess my current financial position fairly, but instead, I was declined without proper consideration, even after I was told my application would be reassessed.
This experience has left me feeling unheard and unfairly judged, and I will be escalating this matter to the Ombudsman for Banking Services and National Credit Regulator.
I request WesBank to urgently review this decision and provide a fair and reasonable explanation.
