Unfair practice
Good morning please assist me. I purchased a finance vehicle with Westbank in july 2018 Datsun go 1.2 lux. In March 2019 I lost my job then struggled to keep up with the monthly installment which was R2700 at that time. I kept on paying for couple of months sometimes missing one or two payments. In 2021 February my errears where around R10000 to round it off. Westbank started referring my account to lawyers which monthly charged R5000 and without informing me. My outstanding balance rose within 12 months to R45000 yet I was paying R3000 for about 4 months in 2021. In 2022 February Westbank uplifted the vehicle through court order and the settlement balance was R124000. I have emailed Westbank to surrender the vehicle because I'm no longer happy with the way my account is being handled. Every time l call Westbank they say the account is not with them anymore it's handled by Basetsana a collection agency. Basestana is not giving me a way forward, they say the car will be auctioned till today they don't update me. The settlement value is increasing every month now it's about 140000. I feel I've been treated unfairly because, I've paid for more the 3years for the vehicle but the value is still the same and I'm owing too much yet the car has been taken away from me. When l asked for the account statement on February 2022, l realized WestbankBank has been charging me interest for a loan of R15900 which was used as deposit of the vehicle without informing me. This made my installment to be high in the beginning of the contract.
