I was on maternity from October 2015 to February 2016. I took out car finance with wesbank in 2014 and have been paying my instalments on regular debit orders. A month before I went on maternity I had notified the bank that I will be going on maternity and the company I worked for was giving me maternity on 0% which means i will not be receiving money from my company since I was a contract worker at the time. I was then adviced to pay at least 1000 into the bank acc for the months I would be on maternity. I adviced them that I will be paying with uif money and will not have a set date on when my uif will be available in my acc. A week before I returned to work I was sent an email that the car will be repossed due to unpaid instalements only to find out that the arrangement of payments was only made for November and not the 5 months of maternity. From my understanding it was settled and normal instalments were going to be deducted from my acc. I then asked for them to take a double instalement every month of 4300 to finish off arears but that was not done. My job keeps me out of the country most times and did not check if these arrangements were taken. last thursday wesbank sent people to come and reposses the car and went to the head offices the friday to settle. To our surprise the acc was not even taken to the legal department and was told to pay 3500 today so the car will not be taken.

My fiance got retrenched when we found out about our pregnancy , we had to move out out of our apartment and still had other financial constraints during pregnancy and after maternity

I urge wesbank to give me a chance in settling my account month end because I will be able to pay those arrears in full at the end of the month. A weekend is simply not enough to borrow money and pay back.

I need the car for work and my family.
