Postponing answers : sezuki pinetown

To whom it may concern, I have a great opinion of Wesbank and FNB. I thought that a Wesbank approved dealer was proof of quality. Thus I continued to purchase my vehicle through Wesbank from this approved dealer on 31Jan 15 for R79000 with an added R19000 in all warranties and services etc. excl. interest. I drove the car for three months with no warning lights, when an oil light came on I took action immediately the car ended up being towed to a mechanic, the damage was severe this was definitely a latent defect, the mechanic quoted cost of repair: R40,000. The dealer was notified immediately and we continued to converse. The warranty purchase offered by the dealer was not affective seeing that they only covered R12000 and after a month of hounding the DP it was increased to R20000, this came to half of the cost, and Sezuki Pinetown then offered to pay 50%of the balance which was R10000: proof of knowledge of defect. What I want is some assistance from Wesbank to affirm the quality required from Wesbank approved dealers and have them cover all costs or cancelation of the deal. I acquired allot of debt with no asset to show after this ordeal and am relying on friends for transport

Hello jduplessis182,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and affording us the opportunity to address your concerns.

The 2nd condition of this credit agreement states that you have chosen the asset, supplier; that we do not know the purpose for which you require us to finance the Goods and that all risk is transferred to you when you take delivery of the Goods. It is also the consumer's obligation to ensure that they are adequately insured to secure their personal interest, particularly when purchasing a pre-owned with extensive mileage. Having stated that the failure happened 3 months after the inception of the Agreement, we must consider the possibility of wear and tear as well extenuating circumstances whilst the dealer's offer of assistance does not necessitate concession or a unilateral admission of guilt. We wish to reiterate that the Bank's influence is limited to the terms of the Agreement.

Notwithstanding the above, your concerns will be discussed with the dealer in hope of arriving at an amicable solution.

We trust that this is in order and assure you of our best intentions at all times.

Yours faithfully,

WesBank
