Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and affording us the opportunity to address your concerns comprehensively.
I appreciate the imposition that our processes may inflict however in terms of the Code of Banking Practice (COBP) and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), financial institutions must be seen to exercise good governance by verifying or establishing the source of funds where possible. This is done not only to secure consumer interests but is also an effective method of preventing any possible occurrences of money laundering.
These processes are statutory and regulatory compliance requirements which the Banks are obligated to execute.
We humbly apologise for any inconvenience that may occur as a result of the above whilst assuring you of our best intentions at all times.
Yours sincerely,
WesBank
