No correspondence for 8 year but now Westbank is demanding payment for a vehicle they repossessed.

A few days ago I wrote in to say that Westbank repossessed my car in 2017 and sold it in an auction for less than the amount owed. For the past 8 year I didn't hear anything from them with regards to the shortfall, but now 8 years later I get an sms stating that I owe Westbank R88000 for a car I don't have. To the best of my knowledge I know that any debt not paid in 5 years is written off. So I don't understand them demanding payment 8 years later. Like I said I wrote about this a few day ago and to date I didn't receive any correspondence from Westbank.
