Financial Service Provider Ripoff
So in 2015 February l bought a car (BMW 316i) through WesBank finance. When my wife lost her job and started experiencing financial challenges towards the end of the year l gave them a call to explain my situation and to see if given the financial changes there would be a way we can re-negotiate the installment. Then they promised to come back to me, on December 21, to cut the story short, a man by the name Leon gave me a call to say there was a way we can sort things and given the fact that l did not run away and l am the one who contacted them l qualify for a special package that will make me get an affordable car for our situation but if l am home the following day, he will come with papers then we will look at them. When Leon came the following day on the 22nd December 2015, he was with another old man and he said unfurtunately things changed and they have to take the car. As confusing as that was they took the car and said it will be kept in a storage and if l cannot make means to pay the oustanding instalment then it will be sold to cover my debt then l will be liable for a short fall.
Fine the car was sold through an auction and my shortfall was handed to the collections department and had to make areangements to pay it off. Having done that as of today it is posaible to get 3 calls in a day from different people claiming WesBank handed over my account to them to collect. I decided to pause paying because l want to make sure am paying the right people.
Now, knowing the fair practices and regulations for financial service providers l am interested to know from the WesBank, the promises and that manipulation by Leon to repossess that car, was it acceptable? Was it legal to do that process that way? I feel ****** the way this process was done. Is it possible to have 3 or more different debt collectors collecting the same debt?
