Finance declined

In 2015 my spouse was paid off and i was unable to make payment on my wesbank account, however in Feb 2016 i sold the vehicle and the full amount outstanding was settled. I have tried to buy a new vehicle recently but it was declined by all banks because of this wesbank account. On my credit report from transunion there is nothing negative. How long will it still take for this to clear off my name as this account has been settled 2 and a half years ago???
