Car problems and Arrears
I have purchased a vehicle November 2016 at VW Acardia Pretoria, financed by Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS). All was well until the new year starts, The car started having problems and following events started to occur:
Air conditioning stopped working (Fixed with own money)
Battery replacement.
Brake pads worn scratching disc plate (Was under impression the car warns you if brakes have run out, fixed with own money)
Rattling sound on front right wheel caused by loose or worn out bolts on the control arm of the wheel ( fixed with own money)
Lock nut damaged, when the car went for service, the lock nut bolts were *****ed in too tight, when we had to change the Tyres, the lock nut got damaged, had to pay for removal of lock-nuts and buying new locknuts.
Rear brake pad on the right (inner pad) braking surface got off leaving the metal which scratched the disc, had to do a premature brake pads change.
Front right headlights stopped working I got got a quote of R2600 for it to be fixed (unable to pay for this) still pending
Turbo charger damaged and replacement total payment R19 000.
Whining sound when accelerating, took it in for vw, luckily it was some bolts loose on the exhuast pipes and car was losing pressure, vw fixed it free for me.
Batter problems, Car battery is damaged and swollen, I took it back to where I bought it and was told the car has alternator problem which is overcharging the battery, please note this battery was during this year in february. The problem of overcharging I can believe it since the initial battery i got with the car was also swollen and looked like it wanted to burst. Currently i face that the alternator be looked it. Car is just parked.
This is a problem as you can see, initially paying for these repairs was not a problem, it becomes a problem when one problem comes after another. This is a Golf 7 GTI 2014, cost of maintainance is too high to keep up, and especially that this a recently purchased vehicle.
Upon purchasing the car, the warranty was expiring in january 2017. I went to the dealership they could not help me out since the car was not taken with extended warranty, we do not know anything about extended warranty a sales person is suppose to advise on the matter. We could not get any assistance from the dealer.
We only got help from VW goodwill assistance when we had turbo charger problem, where they paid 70% towards the turbo, but was left to pay the rest, the initial cost of repair was R55 000, after assistance it went to R30 000, because of working together with the service advisor and he helped out where he can and we ended up paying R19 000.
Please not that by this time i was sturggling and was getting on my 2nd month in arrears, but at the same time I was trying to make communication with VWFS explaining the situation. But i never got a response from them, but was frequently contacted by a ColSol company demanding settlement of arrears and this matter was getting nowhere.
As of now I would like to explain my standpoint and view:
Vwfs was suppose to step in amd assist me on the matter and we work out best solution and this was and still not the case.
The current cost to fix outstanding still standing at R6500, excluding checking the car alternator if it problematic.
The reason we fixed the car was that we wanted to trade it in for another one with a good trade in assistance deal, as we cant send in a damaged car, but this has proven to be a failure and vwfs has loaded negative information on itc and our application are rejected.
We are now afraid to sell off the car, as this might get low value for the car. And why should this be on our own costs for something that has given us problems. And we remain with a shortfall.
Currently we face reposession, and high number of calls. Nobody wants to listen, if this car is repossesed we end up losing still after paying so much to repair it aswell. It not in our favour.
I have a policy with scorpion legal, I am starting to think I should put this into use for assistance. Since there is not intervantion.
It is according to the constitution that a consumer is assisted whenever difficulties, we asked for reduction of instalment, we asked for assistance to have the car changed.
Our email ended up with Clara Harvie (special collection agent) she was willing to assist and assign us to area manager Sibusiso Mnisi, who in turn tried but could not get hold of our account on the system since Wesbank and VWFS are separate entities, their assistance was that they would go to the dealership and see if the car can be changednor something, this is something VWFS is unable to even look at. We now want a clean out of this we cant handle it anymore
