Applying for finance on a Work permit? Think twice.

If you are a foreign national living on a work visa, be very prepared to be harassed when applying for a loan. It has been a living nightmare getting a vehicle finance application approved. Being a returning customer after having already closed a previous loan, it was supposed to be a smoother process than the first application. Now I wonder if there is any standard process they are following or is it some kind of a back and forth game they want to play with customers. After submitting all documents and waiting for feedback for over two weeks, they come back asking me to get a document from the Department of Home Affairs saying that my visa is valid. After speaking to the Area manager and letting him no that there is no way to obtain such a document, I am told that they cannot move forward if they dont have a confirmation. I reach out to the Director at Home Affairs in the Immigration branch, who is very kind to respond so quickly to my email, he also confirms that they cannot provide any validation. And now they still want me to get a confirmation from DHA, hence I am caught in this unreasonable loop. This has to be a new policy, otherwise how did I get my first loan approved 3 years ago? I am shocked as to why the customer is being thrown back and forth to do something that should ideally be a part of their business as usual vetting procedures. So, it looks like I am being told, if I am a foreign national with a work permit, I am just not going to ever get financial aid from Wesbank?
