Worst experience EVER! I would never advise anyone to buy a car from WE BUY CARS. Never!
I bought an Audi Q5 2011 3.2 FSI Quattro White automatic through WE BUY CARS Midstream and I signed a contract and took ownership of the car on the 25th of May 2019. This vehicle is financed with MFC.
Two days later the car started having an issue with Gearbox and the warning light came on. I reported this to We buy cars and they advised me to take the car to Bosch for a diagnosis.
I did just that and Bosch expressed that they don’t specialize in those kind of issues and they referred us to three RMI approved mechanics. I informed WE BUY CARS again and I expressed to them that I would rather take the car to Audi which they advised me against and said that I should rather take it to one of the three mechanics referred to by Bosch because Audi will be very expensive.
We took the car to all 3 mechanics for a diagnosis at +- R500 per diagnosis which we paid for. We were trying to compare the three in order to go for the better deal. We chose All-o-matic because they offered us a discount, the total cost for repairs came up to R38 000. This took us 19 days to do because of cashflow issue as I was on maternity leave at the time. We informed We buy cars. We asked who would pay for the repairs of the vehicle and they mentioned that the warranty they provided us with would pay for it.
The warranty (with innovation group) only covered us for R23 000, and we were meant to pay the difference of R15 000 which we agreed to because we needed the car. The warranty went to the workshop to do an assessment on the vehicle prior to processing the claim. They concluded that it was a pre-existing issue and they declined/rejected the claim.
They tried to inform WE BUY CARS but WE BUY CARS were not responding until I reached out to them to inform them that Innovation group was trying to contacted them. Eventually WE BUY CARS responded to innovation group and was trying to negotiate with them to settle the claim but innovation group kept rejecting the claim. I ended up having a fight with WE BUY CARS who defended themselves by saying that issue is not pre-existing as innovation group and said I damaged the gearbox within two days of receiving it. They claimed to have done a diagnosis on the vehicle prior to selling it.
It spent +- 2 weeks at the mechanic and after receiving it with two days the issue persisted. I contacted we buy cars to inform them again as well as the mechanic. The mechanic came and picked up the vehicle from my home to fixed it. Repairs took about a week. After receiving the car again within a day the problem came back.
I contact WE BUY CARS to request cancellation of the contract because the vehicle they sold me has proven time and again that it is unreliable. They refuse to cancel the contract and have told me to take this up with the ombudsman. Please note that I have requested for the diagnosis report from WE BUY CARS as of yesterday, I am still waiting for feedback.
I am schedule to fetch the car from the mechanic for the 3rd time tomorrow (23-Aug-2019) But I am afraid to drive this car, it put myself and my family at risk. It may break drown in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. WE BUY CARS sold me a faulty vehicle which broke within two days of my taking ownership of it from them and keeps breaking even after repairs.
There is a six months warranty that applies to the car when you buy from the dealer according to the CPA and this car has broken 3 times and they still won't take it back.
